Dereje Shiferaw was born in Asmara in 1976. Dereje is a self thought artist. He persisted as a studio artist for more than 25 years. Dereje’s works are exhibited in South Africa and Ethiopia. His distinct style in water color is dominant in his practice.
His work is not to reproduce what the eye sees, but to capture his own deepest feelings about a subject and to express with twisted lines, forms and color. Texture and shape are at the core of his paintings.
