In The Landscape Beyond: Between Worlds, Olaug Vethal transforms the landscape into a space suspended between the physical and the imagined. Recognisable forms surface briefly before
dissolving into fluid layers of blue, violet and luminous yellow.

Vethal’s expressive lines and washes create a landscape that seems to shift between different states of being. Earth, sky and water merge, blurring the boundary between what is observed and what is felt or remembered.

The work becomes a metaphysical landscape, a threshold between worlds, where the visible coexists with the unseen and the familiar opens onto another reality.

This work is currently hung at Spazju A, Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta until 25th October 2026 as part of the exhibition ‘Beyond The Visible | The Metaphysical Worlds of Olaug Vethal, curated by Christine Xuereb and in collaboration with Christine X Art Gallery
