A Moment Outside Time 3

In A Moment Outside Time 3, Olaug Vethal places groups of figures within a landscape alive with sweeping colour and movement. The figures remain recognisable, yet the world surrounding them seems fluid, as vivid blues, pinks, yellows and greens dissolve conventional boundaries between land,
sea and sky.

Within Beyond the Visible, the painting can be read as an exploration of presence and the fleeting nature of experience. The figures appear caught within a particular instant, while the landscape seems to move continuously around them. A Moment Outside Time 3 transforms an everyday scene into something more contemplative, being a moment briefly suspended between memory and experience, where chronological time seems to give way to the intensity of simply being present.

This work is currently hung at Spazju A, Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta until 25th October 2026 as part of the exhibition ‘Beyond The Visible | The Metaphysical Worlds of Olaug Vethal, curated by Christine Xuereb and in collaboration with Christine X Art Gallery
