Is white really just white?
Inspired by an exercise Olaug Vethal used with her own students, participants will work from an entirely white still life and look closely for the colours hidden within it. Through careful observation, they will begin to notice how light, shadow, reflection and surrounding colours transform what at first appears simply white.
Participants will then translate these observations into paint, discovering unexpected colours where they might not have noticed them before. Connecting directly with Beyond the Visible, the workshop encourages young artists to question first impressions and discover that seeing is not always as simple as it seems.
