Diana Iskander is an award-winning photographer, born and raised in Hungary with Egyptian roots. Her work spans cultures, borders and continents, driven by the conviction that photography is a form of diplomacy. She moves through the world with a quiet certainty: that light, when caught honestly, has a way of finding the people who need it most.
She has always moved towards what felt different, drawn by the instinct that beauty lives precisely where the familiar ends. Over a decade of travels and returns, that instinct became a body of work. Her photographs of Sudan were recognised by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an early confirmation that art, at its most honest, takes a side. Today she carries her practice as a photographer and entrepreneur, and serves as Vice President of Rotaract Club Malta, believing, as she always has, that one person with a clear purpose can change something real.

________
There are photographs that document and there are photographs that witness. Frames of Hope is a collection of the latter.
Captured across the streets of Sudan and Egypt over more than a decade of travel and return, these images were not gathered in a single visit. They are the result of years of going back: of arriving as a stranger and, slowly, being let in. Diana moved through these places not as a tourist but as someone granted access to streets, homes and moments rarely seen from the outside. She brought those moments back for everyone who will never have the chance to stand where she stood.
The Sudanese photographs at the heart of this exhibition were recognised by the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was a confirmation of what Diana had always understood: that the photograph carries a diplomatic function. Showing a people in their full complexity, in their creativity and contradiction, their pride and their tenderness, is to make a political argument. Not with words but with presence.
Equality does not begin with policy. It begins with perception. And perception begins with looking, truly looking, at who is in front of you.
Sudan. Egypt. Culture. And the question of who gets to be seen.
Sudan is in conflict. Families have crossed borders and are building new lives in Egypt. Among them are children whose earliest years are shaped not by disruption, but by the extraordinary adaptability and warmth of their communities.
__________
Tree House Nursery in Cairo was founded to meet that community where it stands: with early education, stability and care.
Founded in August 2023 with three children, the nursery now serves 30 children aged 6 months to 5 years across five classrooms. It is run by 8 dedicated teachers and grounded in Sudanese cultural identity. It is not a charity. It is a community. Every contribution raised through Frames of Hope goes directly to Tree House Nursery. This exhibition is art in service of that purpose.
