In the midst of war, Dereje Shiferaw cannot bear to see anymore children being traumatised. He believes not only in stopping wars but also in deactivating child soldiers’ memories of the brutal war and the trauma of violence. Children are the nexus of humanity and must be kept safe. They must never be used to obliterate peace. He believes he needs to keep his crying eyes open, together with the eyes of his neighbours, allowing tears to do something for humanity, even if their eyes get blinded.
