Back in 2017 to 2019, I (Christine Xuereb Seidu) was living and working in Ghana.
There, I worked on two main art projects:
1. Northern Ghana Life exhibition as exhibition installation project manager as part of Nuku Photo Festival Ghana, in Tamale, Ghana:

The project was a cooperation between academia and photography. University for Development Studies in Tamale and Wa, University of Ghana at Legon and the Dutch Universities of Leidon and Groningen were conducting academic research in the history and society of the Northern Region. Dutch photography institution Noorderlicht and Accra based Nuku Studio have cooperated in combining the insights from academia with visual documentation using photography.

2. I assisted with the media for the opening of the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art in Tamale, Ghana with the exhibition opening of In pursuit of Something Beautiful, Perhaps…’ on 15th March 2029

Between 2017 and 2023, I researched and wrote on Contemporary African Art for the Malta Artpaper:

Since 2021, I have been working with Ethiopian artists, starting from an exhibition for Dawit Adnew, called Paved Road in 2021 at Christine X Art Gallery

In 2023, Spazju Kreattiv commissioned a contemporary African art exhibition which was curated by Bernard Akoi Jackson and project managed by myself.

Then with Tiemar Tegene & Engdaye Lemma in 2023 with ‘Let’s Agree To Disagree’ at Christine X Art Gallery

I have also worked on the second edition of contemporary African art at Spazju Kreattiv (commissioned by them) as a co-curator & project coordinator together with Sarah Abdu Bushra as curator and artists Helen Zeru, Miriam Hillawi Abraham, Eyoeal Kefyalew, Kirubel Melke, James Muriuki, Fatima Tayob Moosa, Berhanu Ashagrie, Tamrat Gezahegn and Rural Futurisms in 2025. The exhibition is called ‘Anyone Who Feeds on Majesty Becomes Eloquent’ . Space A at Spazju Kreattiv.

Although it seems like I’ve been meeting these artists so they must be visiting Malta, none of these artists have come to Malta and most of the time it’s visa rejections. That’s why, for my satellite event with the Malta Biennale 2026, I am working on an exhibition titled ENTRY DENIED showcasing artworks and audiovisuals related to the countless visa rejections that artists from the global south have to endure.
