In The Space Between Worlds, Olaug Vethal transforms the landscape into an immersive field of colour. A distant hillside remains recognisable, while the foreground dissolves into dense passages of pink, orange, green and blue, shifting between observation and abstraction.

Within Beyond the Visible, the painting occupies a space between the world we see and the world we experience internally. Vethal’s landscape is not fixed; forms emerge, disappear and transform through colour and gesture, suggesting perception itself as something fluid.

The Space Between Worlds becomes a threshold of a place between the tangible and intangible, landscape and memory, outer reality and inner experience.

This work is currently hung at Spazju A, Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta until 25th October 2026 as part of the exhibition ‘Beyond The Visible | The Metaphysical Worlds of Olaug Vethal, curated by Christine Xuereb and in collaboration with Christine X Art Gallery
