A Moment Outside Time 2

by Olaug Vethal

• Vinyl Acrylics on canvas
• 107cm by 95cm stretched
• 111cm by 99cm framed

In A Moment Outside Time 2, Olaug Vethal places figures within a landscape saturated with light, colour and movement. Vivid yellows, oranges and reds merge with sweeping blues and greens, while bodies emerge from and dissolve into their surroundings.

Within Beyond the Visible, the painting explores our subjective experience of time. The figures appear absorbed within the moment, while the fluid landscape seems to exist beyond ordinary chronology.

Vethal captures not simply an observed scene, but the sensation of inhabiting it. A Moment Outside Time 2 evokes those fleeting experiences when past and future temporarily recede, leaving only the intensity of the present.

This work is currently hung at Spazju A, Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta until 25th October 2026 as part of the exhibition ‘Beyond The Visible | The Metaphysical Worlds of Olaug Vethal, curated by Christine Xuereb and in collaboration with Christine X Art Gallery
