  Alaine Baker is a Maltese artist whose practice is rooted primarily in figurative painting, while also extending into expressive interpretations of the landscape. Central to her work is an ongoing exploration of colour and its ability to shape the experience of a subject. Through carefully considered colour relationships, she investigates how hue, light and tonal variation can evoke atmosphere, convey emotion, and enrich the visual language of both figure and place. Working from observation, her paintings balance faithful representation with expressive use of colour and composition, creating works that are both visually engaging and emotionally resonant.

  Alaine holds a Fine Arts degree from the University of Malta and has further developed her artistic practice through numerous workshops both locally and abroad. These experiences continue to inform her evolving visual language, characterised by a balance of technical discipline, sensitivity to colour, and a continual exploration of the expressive possibilities of painting.
