  Galikoma is a place in the Afar region which is found in Eastern Ethiopia where more than 150 children were killed in one day during the war. This painting was done on that same night as it affected me greatly and I was charged emotionally.  The subject is a child standing with his hands on the air. The composition and the color and texture emphasize his feelings and emotion. In the background are cuttings from my eleven-year-old-son's textbook with drawings of peaceful and playful imagery.
