MARIA AZZOPARDI

Maria Azzopardi nee Rudakova, born in Moscow, Russia in 1984, is a freelance artist based in Malta.

Daughter of internationally renowned artist and architect/interior designer Irina Rudakova, Maria was brought up with a passion for the arts, having reared her talents since the tender age of 4.

Maria attended Krasnopresnenskaya Art School for 10 years, then went on to read for a bachelor’s degree in Restoration, Conservation and Storage of Tempera and Oil paintings at the Moscow State Academic Art college named in memory of 1905. Some of the most highly-esteemed professionals ran this degree, which involved wide range of practical work leading to certification as an Artist and Restorer.

Other qualifications include a Diploma from the Moscow International Design School in Mural Painting and courses in Adobe Photoshop and QuarkXPress.

Maria’s work encompasses the restoration of early/mid-19th century icons and paintings many of which are on display at the prestigious State Historical Museum in Moscow and UNESCO world heritage site, Kolomenksoye.

The artist has extensive professional experience in drawing and painting, also mural painting for various of her mother’s overseas design projects. Another of Maria’s murals can be found at the Moscow State University.

In recent years , Maria has been commissioned for several oil paintings and ink drawings. Her versatility in styles has always been attractive to prospective clients as these include portraiture, abstract and realism among others.

Maria’s portfolio also comprises gilding work on the historical façade of the Wembley Stores in Valletta, Malta and decorating for venues and events.
